11-11-25   THOUGHTS

Two passages from our reading need our focus.   1.  “in one  spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;”  2.  “by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.”  In an age of frenzied information bombarding our minds, it’s hard to have ONE MIND!  We absorb information from so many sources.  If we don’t  HEAR THE SAME WORDS, we won’t have the same mind. The solution is simple... as a congregation of the Lord’s Church, we immerse ourselves in God’s WORDS and remove ourselves from the continual streams of distraction. Do we... CAN WE even desire such?  Habits are hard to break, we must reestablish NEW HABITS to replace the old!  It is truly a Siren’s Song (a dangerously enchanting and irresistible call that leads to ruin) that we must awaken from.  Prayer will be essential, as will be a DESIRE TO CHANGE!

Php 1:27-29    Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you
that you are standing firm in one  spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;  28  in no way alarmed by your opponents — which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God. 29  For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, 30  experiencing the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
Php 2:1-2   Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion,  2  make my joy complete
by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.

Our Prayer:
Lord, teach us a desire to be of one mind in Christ Jesus.  Give a joyful discipline to work in that direction.  Give us a truthful sense of the essential over the distractions and dilutions.  Help us together, to focus our lives and hearts on Your “Way”.     In Jesus’ name,   Amen.
